In tools on the toolbar tab, click sort (see
figure 3). You can choose from either a desired section or the
entire phone book to be sorted into alphabetical
order.
Once the SIM card is inserted in the SIM card
reader click the "read" icon. Instantly all the numbers
stored in the mobile phones SIM card will be displayed in an easy
to read format on the PC screen (refer figure 1).

Figure 4. Internationalise function
In the tools menu choose preferences (refer
figure 3). Choose the "country codes" tab. Input the
relevant information. I.e. IDD prefix, country code, area code,
number you wish to exempt from the internationalise function
(i.e. 1800, 013 etc...)- click OK. Go back to the
"tools" menu and click internationalise. Instantly the
chosen phone numbers are arranged for international dialing (see
figure 4).
SAVE
With SIM Manager a person can save as many

Therefore in a family situation everyone can save their mobile
contacts with the one package. The phone book can be saved to
either a disk, CD ROM or on the hard drive.p>

Figure 4. Example of saved phonebooks.
CREATING A NEW PHONE BOOK
Click on the "new" icon. A new empty
phone book will be created. To add new numbers do so by the
normal "add" functions. To save the phone book click on
"save as" and type the name (e.g. John phonebook; Lisa
phonebook in figure 5).
OPENING A SAVED PHONE BOOK
To open a previously saved phone book, click
on the open icon. If you know the filename type it in the
"file:" space. If you need to search for a file, click
on the "..." button.
If you have saved a phone book in SIM Manager
and wish to write the saved phone book into the SIM card, you
will need to copy it from the saved phone book file & paste
it into the ADN column of the SIM Manager to write it into the
SIM card. ADN stands for "abbreviated dialing
numbers".
To save a phone book from an already existing
SIM card, you will need to copy the numbers in the ADN file that
appear when "read" is pressed, and paste them to a new
phone book page. Save this phone book with any title as described
in the "SAVE" section.
WRITE
Once the phone book has been updated with all
necessary changes and additions, click on the "write"
icon, and the SIM card will be updated. Remove the cardholder
from the card reader, and then place the SIM card back into the
mobile - the updated phone is now ready to use.
The status bar located at the bottom of the
phone book window gives information about the current phone
book.

OTHER BENEFITS:
SIM Manager has two major benefits on top of
Managing the phonebook. These are:
1. SMS TEXT MESSAGING
In the "SMS book" a person has the
ability to read and write SMS text messages to and from the SIM
card contained within the mobile phone. Rather than keying the
message in on the phone, simply type as many messages as the SIM
card will hold (usually 15 maximum) on the PC, write them to the
SIM card and send them all from the phone.
2. SIM SECURITY
There are a number of functions that can be
carried out through the use of the security manager. Firstly a
person needs to select read from security menu. Something similar
to this screen will be displayed.

The State column indicates that the pin is OK
(enabled), OK (disabled) or blocked. The attempts remaining
column indicates how many more incorrect attempts can be made at
presenting the pin or unblock pin before it will lock.
Through this function the pin code number can
be enabled, disabled, changed, blocked or unblocked.
